The Poland Angus Ranch 4-H and FFA Judging contest is held the second Wednesday of October each year. Students from across Kansas come to judge classes of cattle based upon EPDs and specifically written scenarios.
The first judging contest was held at Poland Angus Ranch in October 1993, and had just 30 participants. At the 2021 contest, PAR played host to 375 students; including 4-Hers and FFAers.
PAR held it’s last judging contest in 2021, nearly 30 years after it first began.

Before the judging contest begins, Richard takes a few moments (or more!) to brief the students on what traits he looks for when managing his herd. Based on recent attendance numbers, it’s a good thing he’s comfortable in front of a crowd!
